Michelle wolf ugly9/11/2023 But it was what she said about the women of the Trump administration, particularly about White House Counsel Kellyanne Conway and Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, that were so vicious it felt like a punch to the gut. She is one of the best comics in the game right now.Her slams against President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were rather typical, and after two years of anti-Trump animus from Hollywood, we’ve become numb to the hateful rhetoric. Her punchlines and joke density are undeniable. Wolf is a perfect example of someone who can be funny while presenting a feminist point of view. I also reviewed her second special that premiered on Netflix in 2019. This is Wolf’s first special, and it’s great. Later she calls him “Squirrelman,” which is a great punchline, and shows how Wolf is able to choose words with precision. At one point in the text conversation she gives the man a nickname “Wildcat,” and in return he gives her the nickname “Wolfgang.” The way he is able to counter everything Wolf is throwing at him is so entertaining. This story is different than most of her other comedy here, she’s not presenting any opinions, just relating a series of silly conversations. She does this by sending off the weirdest texts she can come up with. Later, she tries to get him to stop texting her. In the story, she meets a guy at the gym, and they go on a date. Her last track is the only long story on the album. “You look in the face and say, ‘You have a face that means you’re going to work hard.’ That kid is either going to change the world or murder you.” This joke firmly establishes her point of view while also delivering on sharp punchlines. During one point, she says that we should tell all our children that they’re ugly. ![]() Here, she tells us that we need to stop telling people that they’re beautiful, that we need more ugly people. She absolutely crushed it during the performance I saw. Her track “Please Like and Subscribe” is one that I her perform live at the Comedy Cellar. It’s not just the quality of her voice, but also that she so carefully and precisely goes from a shrill voice to a “normal” one, and is able to go deep when doing a male voice. Wolf has a very distinct voice that makes anything she says sound totally unique. Her delivery also perfectly captures the slight shame and annoyance of this situation. Like if she came up to me at a party, I’d be like, ‘I’m sorry I have to go to the bathroom.’” Here she perfectly captures how almost everyone feels about Hillary Clinton. She then goes into the joke that the title comes from: “I do have an opinion on why Hillary lost. ![]() “It sounds to me like a man infiltrated a meeting and was like, ‘We gotta get these nipples on Instagram!’” Already, she tells us that her opinion is not what you might expect from someone who calls herself a feminist, and that she’s going to be commenting on the politics of the moment. She goes on to say that she thinks that there is a big difference between equal pay and the Free the Nipple movement on Instagram. In her first joke she tells us that she is a feminist, and that she thinks that we’re fighting too many things right now. After Wall Street, she got a job as a writer on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Wolf worked on Wall Street before starting her career as a comic. ![]() It is her first special, and is also out as an album. Michelle Wolf’s Nice Lady first premiered on HBO.
